The TMS tyre pressure monitoring system provides tyre pressure data. It is designed for off-the-road tyres such as for mining, port & terminal, industrial, construction, laboratory testing and Research & Development.

TMS uses sensors mounted inside each tyre that measure the pressure and temperature and transmit this information back to the receiver unit located within the vehicle. The operator interface unit displays tyre pressure data real time and has visual and audible alarms. Alarms can be set for low and high pressure, high temperature, sensor battery and reception timeout. The system provides precise measurements and can tolerate the kinds of temperatures and stresses that may occur inside tyres.

Technology, techniques and know-how developed over many years have produced a product used by vehicle manufacturers and operators. We supply direct to OEMs and can supply customised units.

We have developed TMS into a commercial product for our OEM partners for their specific applications such as mine trucks, rubber tire gantry cranes, trams and construction equipment. Our partners take responsibility for evaluating the suitability and fitting of TMS for their application and so ensure that all TMS applications are fit for purpose.

The Product

The TMS Sensors are battery powered and provide real-time monitoring of pressure and temperature. Continuous and adaptive sensing recognises changes in pressure and temperature and adapts the rate at which information is passed to the TMS Receiver, providing best information at all times. Sensors are available in the internal mounted plastic enclosure or printed circuit board only for mounting into our customers enclosure.

The TMS Receiver is mounted on the vehicle and has facility for up to 4 antenna, ensuring reliable communication between sensors and receiver. You can assign up to 16 TMS Sensors and set alarms for each. Connection to the vehicle network via the RS232 port allows both a switched alarm output and data downloading or integration.

The TMS Operator Interface, connected to the TMS Receiver, displays tyre data and alarms for up to six tyres. The TMS Operator Interface is both a driver display unit and a real time logger allowing operators to see real time tyre pressure information and also data for analysis.

Using the PC application "TMS Manager" you can configure the TMS Receiver and Operator Interface, set the alarm thresholds and download the memory logs.

Benefits

TMS helps maximise the performance of all tyre types, warning of low pressure and increased temperature.
  • Early warning of pressure loss through high sampling rate
  • Easily fitted
  • Accurate, error free signals using custom correction routines
  • Warning when moving or stationary - warning of low pressure before you have moved your vehicle!
  • Improving fuel efficiency and tyre life by ensuring tyres are inflated to the correct pressure.
  • Maintenance and servicing time reduced and reliability increased.

Features

  • Pressure measurement range to cover most applications without loss of accuracy.
  • Default transmit rate can be configured easily to user requirements.
  • Transmits Pressure and Temperature.
  • Secure data protocol - cannot be 'eavesdropped' by other users.
  • Transmits data even while the vehicle is stationary.
  • Please see the Datasheet for full specifications.

Applications

TMS is used in a variety of applications from continuous 24/7 monitoring of tyre pressure on airport transit systems to Research & Development applications in test laboratories.

24/7 Pressure Monitoring

One of our OEM partners, Bombardier Inc., developed their own housing assembly to offer their customers a TMS sensor as an externally mounted system. This mounting configuration greatly facilitates the maintenance of TMS sensor/transmitter parts as an alternative to mounting inside the tyre.

The wheel module is attached to the outside of the wheel rim using wheel bolts and nuts. It is connected to the tyre valve simply and securely using pneumatic hoses. This means there is no need to go to the trouble of removing the tyre, as is required when sensors are installed inside the tyres. The wheel module always remains on the same position on the vehicle, so there is no need to reconfigure the system after a tyre or wheel change.

Integrated Vehicle Telemetry System

Satellite Telemetry (Aust) Pty Ltd (Sattel) is a vehicle telemetry technology provider and systems integrator focusing on the transportation and logistics sector, in particular marine and inter-modal container and cargo terminals. Sattel have integrated TMS into their own vehicle telemetry system where the information is stored for analysis or reported instantly: the driver is notified on the Sattel Display, an alert is displayed on a status screen in the Operations control room, and an email, SMS or pager message is sent to Engineering.

Research & Development and Test Laboratories

By using high precision temperature sensors we are able to offer our customers a very accurate and high resolution TMS sensor for use as a wireless pressure gauge. This configuration of TMS is widely used in tire test laboratories and other industrial applications were accurate pressure monitoring is required.
